Nov 14, 2024

Henrietta, N.Y. — Two contractor employees were injured when a fire broke out Wednesday morning at a stadium under construction on the Rochester Institute of Technology campus.

The Henrietta Fire District received calls for explosions and fire on the roof of RIT's Tiger Stadium around 8:30 a.m.

Firefighters found flames coming from the roof and evacuated the remaining workers in the building while fighting the fire, according to Chief Mark Cholach, and had the fire under control in 20 minutes.

No further information has been released about the extent of the injuries to the workers or the damage to the stadium.

RIT said the fire was small and put out quickly, and all campus operations are continuing as normal.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
