Vinyl events include recycling component

Oct 19, 2023

The Washington-based Plastics Industry Association (Plastics) and the Vinyl Sustainability Council (VSC) have announced a call for presentations for the 33rd Annual Vinyl Compounders Conference and the Vinyl Sustainability Summit. Those two co-located events will be Dec. 4-6 in Austin, Texas.

The industry groups call the co-located industry events a collective gathering of industry professionals, thought leaders and innovators in the vinyl industry.

Plastics and the VSC have identified several topics for presentations, including "technologies and programs to advance postconsumer PVC [polyvinyl chloride] recycling" and "sustainable design and incorporating sustainability thinking into product design and production."

"The vinyl industry is comprised of innovators and leaders who have a wealth of knowledge and expertise on a wide range of topics to share with our audience, including market trends and drivers, sustainability, and technology innovations," Plastics Vice President of Industry Engagement Ashley Hood-Morley says. "Plastics invites industry thought leaders to submit presentation proposals that will inform and inspire attendees at this year's co-located, one-stop event."

"We look forward to partnering again with Plastics on this important industry event," adds Jay Thomas, executive director of VSC. "Attendee feedback from last year's conference confirmed that coupling the Vinyl Sustainability Summit with the Vinyl Compounders Conference provides a valued source of information and education for the vinyl industry."

The 33rd Annual Vinyl Compounders Conference and the co-located Vinyl Sustainability Summit will be held at the Thompson Hotel in Austin. Registrations will start being accepted later this summer.

Conference attendees are expected to include vinyl resin and plasticizer producers, compounders and formulators and producers of industrial and consumer products.

Nearly 200 people attended the conference in 2022, and it marked the first time the Vinyl Sustainability Summit was co-located with the compounding event.

This year, the Vinyl Sustainability Summit will offer a full day of sustainability-focused programming, followed by the Vinyl Compounders Conference, with two full days of programming.

Presentation proposals submissions are due by July 15. Proposals will be reviewed and notifications of acceptance will be sent out by the end of August, the two organizations say.

More information on how to submit a proposal can be found here.
