Virginia Tech construction worker dead as result of fall
A construction worker on Virginia Tech's Blacksburg campus died Wednesday after falling from a building, the university reports.
At about 11 a.m., the worker died as "as a result of a fall at the wind tunnel renovation project adjacent to the former Randolph Hall," according to a statement published on Virginia Tech's website. A second construction worker was injured.
"Because campus construction sites are under the control of the contractor, the two workers involved are not university employees, and the incident remains under investigation, the university has no further information regarding the incident at this time," the press release reads. "Virginia Tech extends its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased worker."
No other information was immediately available.
